Doylestown Free Community Skatepark

Doylestown and its surrounding communities are rich in outdoor sports fields, parks, and trails, but we are missing one essential piece; a free community skatepark.
We are asking that the borough council consider designating space for an outdoor skatepark that is free for anyone at all times of the year.

Why is this important?

Many municipalities have recently added skateparks to their list of public parks and they are drawing in skaters from all over the tri-state area.
Skateboarding is a popular activity that creates community, builds confidence, and gives the younger generations an alternative to playing on their devices inside all day.
We love our YMCA skatepark for the beginners looking for guidance and a safe protected area, but having it closed for multiple months out of the year leaves many kids searching for things to do and often skating in areas they are not supposed to be in. By creating a free skatepark that is well designed and a designated skating area we are keeping kids safe and allowing them to do what they love.
Aside from giving the skaters a place to go we are also promoting community growth. The restaurants and shops of town will benefit from having a young generation looking to spend more time in town. Currently, many kids leave town to skate in the surrounding area parks of Ambler, Wrightstown, Falls Township, Warminster, Philadelphia, and a growing list of many more.
We have an opportunity to give our kids a place here in Doylestown so we can keep them close to home and a place to be proud of.
