Justice for a national and global hero
As the bedrock of early America’s civil rights movement, the legacy of Jamaica’s first national hero, the honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey, cannot and should not be denied. As the socio-political and philosophical trendsetter of the day, Garvey was without question, primarily instrumental in carving out the fundamentals of America’s basic human rights parameters and reinforced the dignity of a people enslaved in its boundaries. He hammered out the early concept of Black Nationalism and the need for economic development and respect while laying the ground-work of the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League (UNIA-ACL) before he was unjustly silenced. It is no secret that highly celebrated American humanitarian giants all studied in the chambers of this great Jamaican. The time has come to make right the age-old wrong that serve to project this global icon as a common criminal.
Why is this important?
The call for the exoneration of the Honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvy is a long overdue necessity. As the bedrock of early America’s civil rights projections the unparalleled legacy Jamaica’s first national hero cannot and should not be denied. It is no secret that highly celebrated American humanitarian giants all studied in the chambers of this great Jamaican. The time has come to make right the age-old wrong.
