eBay: Stop funding anti-clean energy group ALEC!
Stop funding anti-clean energy group ALEC!
Why is this important?
Several leading Silicon Valley companies that support action on climate change recently ended memberships in the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). These companies could no longer justify supporting a climate change-denying organization that is working aggressively across the country to block and repeal renewable energy and climate legislation. ALEC is even leading a charge to penalize homeowners who install their own solar panels, labeling them “freeriders.”
Google, Facebook, Yahoo! and Yelp ditched ALEC in the last two months. Google Chairman Erik Schmidt told NPR that ALEC is “literally lying” about the reality of climate change before dropping its membership.
But one company is hanging on: eBay. This despite the fact that eBay has taken strides to be an energy efficient company, and is working with other businesses to “pass meaningful energy and climate legislation.” eBay CEO John Donahoe recently said “we’re not with (ALEC)" on climate change.
It’s clear that ALEC shouldn’t be supported by companies like eBay that espouse values that ALEC is working to destroy.
Please join me in telling ebay to dump ALEC now!
Thank you for taking action for our climate and kids.
