Demand a Debate!

Ohio's Governor John Kasich refuses to debate his opponent Ed Fitzgerald during this 2014 election. Democratic candidate Ed Fitzgerald has agreed to debate the Green Party candidate Anita Rios at the Cleveland City Club at 6:00 on October 22, 2014. Our elected officials are paid by public taxes, therefore they should be mandated to speak at non partisan public events that inform the citizens of their positions and record while in office. By signing this petition you are demanding that Governor Kasich debate his opponents at the Cleveland City Club at the scheduled time! The City Club is the oldest continuously operating free speech forum in the United States, it was established in 1912.

Why is this important?

Public officials should be mandated to accept a public debate during an election year. Debates allow for many issues to be discussed. It is an opportunity for the public to see, hear and learn about real issues facing their government and communities. To have our Governor reject a public debate is a shameful act of defiance that must be corrected.
