Education reform

Louisiana would greatly be affected by the passing of this bill because it would give students vouchers to attend private school therefore using taxpayer dollars to private schools instead of public schools where all students are guaranteed an education. Teacher's job would depend on test scores of students and those teachers would have to have 5 years of good scores to get tenure (which only means that if a teacher is being fired then they have a right to a hearing on the decision to fire that teacher) this tenure doea not protect bad teachers. It just gives a teacher a fair hearing. This bill does not take into account the student's variase reasons that they do not perform well on the test. Taxpayer dollars meant for public schools would go to private schools and the development of charter school is established. Charter schools have failed in the past but this bill would allow them to establish in public schools that are going to be closed because of laque of enrollment. Most private and charter school have teachers that are not certified or have very little experience to handle a large class.

Why is this important?

This petition is addressed to help students, tax payers and teachers. The education reform bill seeks to give vouchers so kids can attend private schools that are not equipped to handle children with disabilities, end teacher tenure meaning a teacher can be fired for any reason even if the reason is not a valid one, teachers would loose their jobs because of student test scores.
