Elected Officials Disclosing Taxes

All candidates for elected office should be required to disclose five years of their federal tax returns. This information is essential to the voters as a means of discovery beyond the candidate's rhetoric.

Why is this important?

I believe all candidates for elected office should be required to disclose five years of their federal tax forms. This seems like a simple requirement, as tax filings tell us what the candidate values. I feel anyone who is not willing to follow such a rule is rightfully suspicious and should not be considered for office.
