To: The United States House of Representatives and The United States Senate
Election of President by Popular Vote
We hereby petition Congress, under Article V. of the Constitution of the United States of America to propose an Amendment to the Constitution eliminating paragraphs two, three and four of Section 1 of Article II of the Constitution and substituting therefore the following language:
"The President and Vice President shall be elected by popular vote of the citizens of the United States on the first Tuesday of every fourth year commencing on November of the year prior to the expiration of the term of the President and Vice President in office at the time of ratification of this Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. The candidates with the highest number of votes cast shall be elected."
Why is this important?
Congress to propose and send to the states for ratification a federal Constitutional amendment eliminating the arcane Electoral College and providing for the popular election of President of the United States.
