Prevent hiring discrimination against the LGBTQ community in Georgia

Amend Georgia's legal code known as the Official Code of Georgia Annotated (O.C.G.A.) to include a restriction against employer discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.

Why is this important?

Currently on Georgia's Secretary of State website it states "Sexual Orientation: There is currently no Federal or Georgia law prohibiting discrimination against employees based on their sexual orientation."

In order to ensure Georgia continues in its history of civil rights advancements and not fall behind the sweeping national movement to support and protect marriage equality, we must amend the portions of our legal code which prevent us from moving forward. Homophobia and discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is no different than racism. Just as the people of Georgia fought (and continue to fight) to eliminate racially discriminatory laws, we must continue to defend against discrimination against all groups, and this absolutely must include the LGBTQIA community.

Simply put, we must not allow the legal abidance of discrimination.
