Ask each and every candidate for any national elective office and from all political parties to sign a pledge that he/she will sponsor/co-sponsor a constitutional amendment to forbid corporations and labor unions from contributing to political candidates, political parties and PACs, and any other entitity that promotes or opposes a candidate for office and any and all policy matters. In the meantime, such candidates will pledge to sponsor/co-sponsor national legislation that requires full disclosure of political contributions including the names of indiviuals and organizations and the amounts contributed to individual candidates, political parties and PACs.
Why is this important?
The Supreme Court's Citizen's United decision has opened the flood gates of undisclosed and unlimited funding in support or in opposition to a particular elective candidate or policy matter. This decision has placed our political system in the hands of the wealthy and powerful to serve their own special interests.
