End Corporate Personhood

We, the undersigned, call upon our elected representatives in Congress to begin the process of amending the Constitution to make it clear that corporations are not people and should not be entitled to the same constitutional rights, specifically free speech rights, as individual human beings. The economic power of corporations already gives them undue influence in American politics. It is essential that Congress as well as state legislatures be able to legislate curbs on corporate influence.

Why is this important?

We need a constitutional amendment to counteract the terrible impact of the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision. Corporations are not people and should not have all the same rights as people. In particular, given their excessive economic power, corporations' "free speech" rights should be strictly curbed.
