With increasing global warming and climate change, it makes absolutely no sense to be giving tax breaks and other subsidies to the fossil fuel industry. We need to pass the Sanders/Boxer Climate Legislation and The End Polluter Welfare Act of 2013 introduced by Sen. Sanders and Rep. Ellison, and save billions of dollars which could be better put to use in promoting sustainable energy development, as well as energy conservation.
Why is this important?
We must act now to limit the increasingly catastrophic consequences of global warming and climate change (more extreme weather, droughts, rising sea levels, changes in water availability) of which the burning of fossil fuels is the primary culprit. Our own survival, as well as that of thousands of other species, is in question.
