End the ability to gerrymander by taking the control of redistricting away from legislators and giving it to non-partisan bodies who will draw congressional districts using no more than 4 straight lines (exceptions being coastlines and river ways), where the length of no line shall exceed the smallest line by 100%.
Why is this important?
The practice of gerrymandering has been used by both parties in Statehouses throughout the country to effectively disenfranchise voters and tip the balance in favor of the party controlling the state legislature at the time. This has led to more and more extreme candidates getting elected, as they play to the fringes of their own party, rather than to the center of the electorate, resulting in the current congress, mired in fillibusters and inaction.
