End the federal prohibition of hemp in the United States.
Why is this important?
Hemp is an incredible versatile plant with a plethora of uses including rope, high quality paper, food products, and clothing. As an excellent alternative to cotton and timber, it can easily be grown by farmers anywhere, with a very low environmental impact. Yet, due to smear campaigns and lobbyists of the timber industry in the past, hemp is currently treated as its THC-rich cousin, marijuana, and cannot legally be grown in the United States without a nearly impossible to obtain permit from the DEA-- despite not being a drug. With its incredible potential benefits to the environment, farmers, and the people, the need for hemp legalization is strong. It's time to end the madness, and end hemp prohibition.
