End the ban on MMJ facilities within Malheur County, Oregon

Stop the prohibition of OMMP cardholders' right to equal enforcement of Oregon's Marijuana laws! Malheur County elected officials are ignoring the voices of their citizens in pain by continuing to ban medical marijuana facilities, despite SB 1531 expiring on May 1, 2015. The county’s sheriff, Brian Wolfe, stated “I do not want any medical marijuana in my county.” He is pushing for OMMA of 1998 to be rewritten before he will honor Oregon’s medical marijuana laws – which would allow city officials to place a permanent ban on these facilities, FOREVER keeping patients several hours from the nearest legal source to acquire their medicine. This is ILLEGAL.

IT IS TIME for this crime and cruelty toward those suffering within Malheur County to end. This is not just about lifting a now illegal ban on medical marijuana facilities, but to show elected officials they cannot make their own laws to serve their self-idealist mentality. They are abusing their authority, not listening to the people and IGNORING the law.

We are requesting for Oregon Governor Kate Brown to STOP THE CRUELTY and directly address the hype and crime that SB-1531 has had on the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program, OMMP, patients and their caregivers…TO END THE BANS. In Malheur County, OMMP patients’ voices have NEVER been heard, and the science of medical marijuana has been largely ignored. Now, two towns have passed PERMANENT bans, illegally, and another is being difficult to the point of hindering progress.

Please sign the petition, and help bring medicine to the people in need AND show our politicians they are NOT in control…the people are!

Why is this important?

SB 1531 was a rushed bill enacted after Oregon legalized medical marijuana facilities in 2014. It was a ridiculous bill to begin with, but it became null and void on May 1, 2015. Malheur County and its elected officials are breaking the law and many are being negatively impacted to the point of constant pain, mental anguish and even long-term hospitalization.

Malheur County is in trouble for many reasons...this is merely the tip of the iceberg.
