The institution of the Electoral College has outlived its initial purpose and has proven to be an impediment to our democracy. Twice within the last 20 years, a presidential candidate who won the majority of the national votes was denied the office because of this outmoded institution. The original reasons for the existence of the electoral college no longer exist. It needs to GO!
Why is this important?
The electoral college has become an impediment to our democracy. We should be electing our president through a simple majority vote.
