End the Filibuster in Congress

The senate is a voting body meant to represent the citizens of the United States. Our Founding Fathers in the creation of these United States and the United States Constitution determined that with a simple majority in Congress a bill could be passed into law. In this day and age when the financial, physical and personal security of all American citizens is on the line with each and every vote or introduction of a bill, we can no longer allow the Republican party to hold our lives hostage through the use of the automatic filibuster. The filibuster was meant as a means of protection but had stringent rules that required a member of the Senate to hold the floor through speech if he wished to delay or stop a vote. Let us return to this standard. It makes no sense that it requires 60 members of the Senate to agree in order to even have a vote on a bill which would only need 51 members of the Senate to pass. End the filibuster and let the bills that could help us must be heard to voted upon!

Why is this important?

In a time when every vote tends to have dramatic consequences on the common American citizen we can no longer allow the Republican party to hold change hostage through the use of the automatic filibuster. When a simple majority of 51 is all that is required to pass a law, then a 60 member vote should not be required to take a vote.
