Why is this important?
Many of the middle class in the U.S. put in hundreds of unpaid overtime hours per year. That is because we are considered "salaried" or "exempt", under the Fair Labor Standards Act, and not legally entitled to collect over-time pay. This "Exempt" employee category, is effectively preventing the creation of jobs and the related collection of potential income taxes. Changes in this law could help prevent injuries or health problems, and lead to millions paying jobs, and the collection of Billion of Dollars in additional income taxes.
