Stop HR 4345 and S 2264! Hold energy corporations accountable for health injury and environmental harms that their operations cause. By focusing corporate attention on preventive strategies and on their ultimate ownership of any consequences of their decisions and business conduct, our Legislators will encourage corporations to be good "citizens" and to perform their business in environmentally- and public health-friendly ways.
Why is this important?
The U.S. House and Senate introduced bills that allow energy corporations to hide from liability when they damage the environment or hurt citizens. These Republican sponsored bills (s2264 and hr4345) provide "liability protection for claims based on the design, manufacture, sale, offer for sale, introduction into commerce, or use of certain fuels and fuel additives, and for other purposes." Tell Congress that corporate accountability is essential to protect public health and the environment, because it encourages attention to these issues in corporate strategic and operational decision-making.
