Any cuts to Social Security and or Medicare for the American people will result in cuts to the benefits of our legislative bodies. Their benefits need to be aligned with benefits that would be given to someone in the private sector based on wages paid and tax contributions paid over their working life.
Why is this important?
The American people contribute their tax dollars to social security and medicare everytime they collect a paycheck or file their quarterly taxes if self employed. Our government collects a paycheck and huge benefits because of our tax dollars. If the American people have their benefits cut, our legislature should have their own benefits cut to the same level.
