EPA - Prevent More Chemical Spills
The chemical spill in West Virginia is another unfortunate reminder that we're at risk of serious harm due to toxic chemicals in our communities. Please use your authority under the Clean Air Act to require chemical facilities to phase out the most dangerous chemicals and strengthen safety requirements for storing and transporting toxic materials.
Why is this important?
The EPA has the authority under the Clean Air Act to regulate the transportation and storage of toxic chemicals. The explosion in West, Texas was a tragic reminder of why these regulations are necessary. The latest chemical spill in West Virginia serves to reiterate that need. The EPA needs to act.
