Elected officials should get paid no more than the median income of those they serve, and only recieve payment for time in office. We have taken a pay cut, so should they.
Why is this important?
To serve the public, you must know their issues and feel the weight of thier burden. For what elected officials are paid, federal and state; in the past 20 years their pay has gone far beyond the adverage person. And senators & congressmen continue to recieve full pay for life after leaving office. Elected officials should not get paid more than those they represent.
