Erase debt for victims of for-profit colleges selling worthless degrees.

As a graduate of a for-profit college, I can attest to the fact that the degrees which are sold by some of these schools are worthless and do not benefit those seeking only to further their future earnings potential. My future is mortgaged by a debt that I can't repay, ever. A debt which almost as much as I earn in a month from interest. The few interviews I've managed to secure following graduation, where I was seeking a position related to the "degree" that I earned over four years, I have had to explain the very institution that I earned the degree from. These places don't have full-accreditation, the credits do not transfer, and they do not offer sufficient education. This should not be the case, there should not be organizations that are preying upon hopeful people who want only a better and brighter future for themselves and their families, or loved ones. It is well past time that we, as a nation, put an end to monetizing the futures of our children's futures , and end the practice of investors profiting from education and hold those who have profited from selling degrees that are not recognized by employers as being of merit.

I cannot speak for everyone with my experience at a for-profit college, but this is a practice that should end now so that no one else has to lose their financial future in a gambit with one of these institutes who is only worried about their bottom line and not the future financial health and well-being of the students who entrust colleges and universities to provide the means to beneficial career pathway.

Why is this important?

Countless scores of people have sought higher education and have come away with nothing more than a bill of sale after attending a for-profit instituition. Their financial futures are mortgaged and they are enslaved to a debt that they will never be able to repay, their credits won't transfer to other institutions, but it wouldn't matter because for-profit colleges have enslaved them with massive debts which exclude them from further assistance to better their futures. The for-profit college industry needs to be held accountable, and all of those affected should be freed to pursue their dreams without the specter of a debt that can't ever be repaid hanging over their heads until the day that they die.
