Expand Universal Education and forgive all student loans

Dear Decision Makers,

For decades the United States has struggled for solutions to magnanimous problems like climate change, poverty and unemployment, endemic health problems like cancer and obesity, inequality and injustice, a large population of incarcerated citizens, governmental and citizen debt. The decline of education has exasperated serious societal and environmental problems. The decline of well-funded education has taxed progressive science programs and all varieties of research that promise solutions.

By making generous investments in education the odds are greatly increased to find creative answers for these daunting problems. When students are educated to their full potential and are free of unnecessary burdens of tuition, fees and exorbitant loans, they can become fully involved and effective citizens and leaders.

It is prudent to invest substantially in Americas educational infrastructure, programming and tuition rates for students. The education of the citizenry is proportionate to the integrity of the society in which we live. Rather than the looming prospects of environmental decline, increased violence and cultural decay, in this 21st century we seek well-developed human civilization and humanity.

We petition you to support the expansion and scope of free public education to include higher education through the doctorate levels. The high school level is no longer sufficient. The plague of student debt harms individuals, families and the entire population. The potential value of an educated citizenry holds tremendous potentials, including recouping all the costs of initial investments of a fully developed universal education system in the USA.

Why is this important?

While considering initiatives that reform education I fear that problems, such as massive and crippling student debt, are compounded rather than being solved. I believe a better academic system will result with foundational change of expanding universal public education. Further, I am convinced that the education system is in the foundation of culture, government and society.

For the best creative thinking, research and leadership we need to relieve the burdens of debt that plague American students by forgiving all student debt. More, in behalf of creating the most democratic, secure and happy civilization, the best investment we can make is in expanding free public education. With free access to education for all, including higher education, literacy rates will soar and creative answers will begin to surface for numerous problems like corruption, inequality, injustice, environmental degradation and violence.
