Fairmount/Indigo Corridor Petition
The Fairmount/Indigo Corridor Network is urging you to include, in your first State of the City address, a commitment to working with community stakeholders to realize the vision of the Fairmount/Indigo Corridor as a ‘Corridor of Opportunity’.
Why is this important?
Dear Mayor Walsh,
I am a member of the Fairmount/Indigo Corridor Network — a growing group of community, business and institutional stakeholders from Newmarket to Hyde Park.
As our mayor and a long-time resident who understands and cares about issues of equity and fairness, we want to work with you to shape and influence the future of our communities.
The network is urging you to include, in your first State of the City address, a commitment to working with community stakeholders to realize the vision of the Fairmount/Indigo Corridor as a ‘Corridor of Opportunity’ by ensuring:
• Policies and sufficient funding to stop displacement of renters, homeowners and businesses.
• Social and economic equity across incomes and race.
• A Fairmount/Indigo line consistent with other MBTA lines with good bus connections.
• Economic opportunity through job training, support for local businesses/entrepreneurs, asset development and wealth building.
• Healthy, safe, vibrant neighborhoods with opportunities for arts, recreation, civic and cultural celebration.
Please do not forget us in January!!!
Warm wishes for the holidays,
