We demand federal legislation requiring all voting jurisdictions in all 50 states to provide 6 days of access for the purpose of early voting, in the local, desigated jurisdictions or county/parish election offices. Access to early voting shall commence 8 days before primary and general election days and run Monday-Friday from 8am to 6 pm and on the Saturday prior to election day, from 8a to 5 pm.
Why is this important?
For the past 4 presidential elections, access to vote has been hindered, delayed, blocked and suppressed. Based on the reality that white suburban voters face little to no lines to vote and urban, ethnic voters face hours in line on election day, we need a federal law which forces all states to provide the same, consistent access to a ballot for all potential voters.
