We the undersigned, support changing the federal holiday known as "Columbus Day" to "Indigenous Peoples' Day", thus joining other states which have recognized that this change is an important step toward recognizing the injustices of colonialism.
Why is this important?
As a First Nations person, I will be providing a service at our church explaining the historical damage the Doctrine of Discovery has wielded on Indigenous People's and their land, and would like to invite the congregants to sign this petition asking our governmental leaders to step forward and support this change.
