Fix Green Card Backlog For High Skilled Immigrants/Save H4ead
Due to the broken immigration system in the USA, there are thousands of highly skilled immigrants who are left in limbo due to the significant backlog in allocating Green cards. Congress can easily fix this with one bill which addresses this issue.
Also, a very small number of the spouses of these applicants waiting for more than 6 years in the Green card backlog were allowed to work to contribute to the country and pay taxes and not take any benefits through the H4EAD rule. Most of these spouses are highly skilled and would like to continue contributing to the US economy and raise the next generation of very responsible American citizens. Please do not reverse H4EAD rule without good economic data/research to support it.
If the immigration system cannot be fixed comprehensively, as we have seen for the last several years, can we suggest fixing at least the Green Card backlog and then H4EAD may not be needed after all and will become automatically redundant!!

Why is this important?
This issue has personally affected my family. Please read the story in the newspaper link below to see how much pain my family is silently suffering while taking care of the sick and infirm with the empathy that they deserve. H4EAD has personally helped me to work with more patients who are lacking access to care due to physician shortages in the USA. Also, I am able to diversify in my work and teach medical students from the Florida State University Medical School as Clinical Assistant Professor. If I have to go back to H1B and wait in line again for a green card, which is tremendously backlogged, it will put restrictions on my ability to help patients and continue training future doctors.
