Fix the Voting Rights Act gutted by Supreme Court
Recently the conservative majority on the Supreme Court gutted a critical provision of the 1965 Voting Rights Act. Two Democrats and one Republican in the House (Sensenbrenner, Conyers, and Leahy) have introduced a law--the Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2014--to recover some of what the Supreme Court struck down. Since it is bi-partisan, it is a compromise rather than the ideal, but it is a vast improvement over the current status quo. Please sign this petition asking AZ Rep Kyrsten Sinema to co-sponsor this bill and help strengthen voting rights in America.
Why is this important?
Arizona needs it; the nation needs it. Voter restriction and discrimination laws are sweeping Republican controlled states. We need national legal tools to fight it.
