Florida Elected Officials: Get out of ALEC

Senators & Representatives of Florida: serve the people of Florida, not the corporate backers of ALEC. Resign from the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC.)

Why is this important?

ALEC, the American Legislative Exchange Council, is comprised of state legislators and corporations, who pay to join. They then write model legislation that benefits the corporate backers' bottom lines and attempt to pass this legislation in state houses across the country. Much of it gets passed verbatim.

Some of the model legislation ALEC has created or promoted includes the following: the Voter ID Act, the Defense of Marriage Act, and the Parent Trigger Bill. There have been 62 anti-environmental pieces of legislation that ALEC has pushed.

The list goes on, for more information, you can visit alecexposed.org.

The future of democracy is at stake when there is a shadowy back-room arrangement where corporations pay good money to get friendly legislators to introduce pre-packaged bills in state houses across the country. Tell your elected officials to serve their constituents, not the corporate backers of ALEC.
