I oppose SB 140 (and similar legislation), which would allow the open carrying of loaded handguns nearly anywhere on Florida’s public university and community college campuses, on K-12 public school grounds, within public areas in airports, and inside county and municipal government buildings (including Legislative hearings).
Allowing non-law enforcement personnel to openly carry loaded handguns on college campuses, K-12 public schools, airports and county and municipal buildings will only create an unsafe and volatile environment for all Floridians.

For the third year in a row, gun lobby-backed legislators, including State Senator Greg Steube, are continuing their assault on public safety by introducing legislation that will change current Florida law and allow loaded guns to be openly carried in educational institutions, airports, bars and county and municipal buildings. These bills will also expand the scope of places where Florida's notorious "Stand Your Ground" law could be invoked.
Together, we have stopped the gun lobby in the past. As we begin a new legislative session, your help is needed to secure a safer Florida.
