Form the Richmond Transportation Authority

The localities of Greater Richmond share transportation needs. The citizens of the City of Richmond and the counties of Chesterfield, Hanover, and Henrico wish to form the Richmond Transportation Authority(RTA) empowered to plan and fund regional transportation projects for Greater Richmond. Please put this issue before the citizens of the aforementioned localities in the form of a referendum so that we may empower the RTA to generate revenues for our transportation needs.

Why is this important?

The localities of Greater Richmond share transportation needs, including the absorption of 300,000 more people by 2027. But, the region currently has no central transportation authority empowered to both plan and fund projects that would benefit the common good. This Richmond Transportation Authority can only be created by the Virginia General Assembly.
