Allow former California parolees with completion of their parole term without any violations and proven exempliary citizenship for a period of five years to have their criminal record expunged.
Why is this important?
People who have been on probation are given the opportunity to have their criminal record expunged after they complete their probation term. Parolees of the California Department of Corrections can, after seven years, petition for a Governor's pardon, but cannot have their criminal record expunged. Governor Brown could sign legislation that would provide parolees who have completed their parole term without any violations and have proven exempliary citizenship for a 5-year period, to have their criminal record expunged.
