Free Ride Home

Stop The Animal Control officers from taking your dog or cat to shelter if tagged/licensed/rabies. In Chesapeake Virginia there is a "Free Ride Home" Program , Which is if an Animal Control Officer picks up a pet wearing a tag that the officers can trace or has a registered micro chip, the officer will bring the pet home, rather than taking it to the shelter. ( This is provided there is no serious law violation such as a bite or mauling, and that there is an adult owner home to receive the pet. If citizens are willing to meet Animal Services halfway by putting collars and tags on pets, our officers should be eager to go the extra distance and bring them home.

Why is this important?

We need an alternative for our cats and dogs
