Happiness Petition!

Amend the 13th amendment so that all people are free to live as their authentic selves. This is what America was founded upon.

Why is this important?

According to Section 1 of the 13th Amendment of The Constitution, passed by Congress January 31, 1865, ratified December 6, 1865,

"Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."

In today’s America, poverty and drug possession are treated as crimes. That’s what happens when you wage war on drugs and poverty. The victims and their families are just victims of warfare in which they have their power stripped from them—bad schools, no opportunity, no justice, little to no health care and imprisonment. It’s a completely one-sided war.

So I have a question, should someone be subjected to slavery just because they’ve found themselves in such a desperate situation that they end up prostituting or addicted to drugs? What about smoking and/or selling a plant that once legalized made millions of dollars in taxes in one state in just a day? If you answered no, sign the petition so that we can win freedom for everyone. It's time for America to live up to its own standard.
