We the undersigned hold that as education is the preeminent vehicle for a civil society, a dynamic economy, for advancement of the humanities and sciences, and the promotion of opportunity, it must have stable and egalitarian funding, which is now unstable, unequal and unfair. We ask that the constitution's provision of states rights be amended to create level and significantly increased federal funding for K-12 education.
Why is this important?
Current state and local funding creates vast inequality and underfunding of K-12 education. Funding will be leveled and the same per capita, regardless of local property values, and significantly increased to reverse the precipitous decline in American public education. Equality in education and therefore opportunity will be greatly enhanced towards an educational system second to none in the world.
