Fund and deploy SkyTran to eliminate need for foreign oil

SkyTran is a personal rapid transit system that would allow commuters and others to travel in small, automated cars suspended above the road, directly to their destinations, without having to deal with slow bus times, other passengers, traffic, or set schedules: just get in the next available car, tell it where you want to go, and it takes you there, bypassing all road-based congestion.

SkyTran is already partially developed, and just needs further funding to be finished and then deployed. The technology is all well within the limits of today's technology, and actually could have been developed back in the 1990s (earlier PRT systems were around in the 1970s). Stop wasting money on car-based infrastructure and provide a public transit system that people will actually use, and which won't cost a fortune to install and operate unlike light rail. Then we can reap the savings of much-decreased energy usage, as a single car only uses as much power as two hair dryers, a tiny fraction of the energy needed to drive a normal car at 60mph.

Why is this important?
