Fund Isthmus Park

Budget $2 million to fund the purchase of key parcels of lands, which is necessary to fulfill the purpose of creating a park to permanently protect the spectacular water views to and from our majestic state capitol.

Why is this important?

Citizens' groups and former state governors have successfully opposed high-rise buildings on the Olympia Isthmus, which block, or would block, spectacular views to and from Washington's majestic state capitol; which capitol overlooks southern Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains, Capitol Lake, and the Deschutes River estuary. As a result of these efforts, the City of Olympia has designated the Isthmus as a park, and is seeking $2 million funding from the State Legislature to purchase key parcels to extend the park to the entire Isthmus.
