Provide more money to public and private animal shelters to fund low cost spay/neuter, education and incentive for becoming a "No Kill" shelter within the next 5 years.
Why is this important?
Dog and cat overpopulation forces over 4 million animals to be euthanized each year at public shelters. In addition to the cost in lives, there is a financial and emotional cost to this problem. The aim of every town or city with a public or private shelter should be to first reduce animal population through low cost spay/neuter surgery and education, including trap, neuter, release and management of feral cats, second, increase adoption campaigns to find homes for existing animals, and third, strive for a "No Kill Shelter" within the next five years.
