To: The Georgia State House, The Georgia State Senate, and Governor Brian Kemp
Georgia Legislatures- Don't Ask Georgians for free labor
We are asking each Georgia Lawmaker to vote 'NO' on Senate Bill 294, known as " Dignity for the Unemployed act." If this bill passes the house and Senate, it will require any and all Georgians to perform free work for charity organizations in order to qualify for unemployment.Unemployment benefit is funded by employer's payroll Tax, not funded by taxpayers. It is truly a rainy day fund build by employer's tax money for temporary assistance of any worker who lost his/her job for no fault of their own. So, Georgia Lawmakers, stay out of this fund and STOP distrusting unemployed Georgians.
Why is this important?
Georgia General assembly is poised to pass a bill to require mandatory free labor from anyone who file for unemployment benefit. Senate Bill 294 is shamelessly named as " Dignity for the Unemployed Act", which will require you to do free work if you loose your job for no fault of your own, including layoff, reduction of hours or if you lost job due to business closed.
