Give American's the right to end life support
People die every day and every second, but when you are up close and personal with a dying loved one you see it from a totally different perspective. Like so many, I have had family members unfortunate enough to be in a coma without any hope. When we decided to take them off life support, the hospital kept feeding them intravenously. This is completely absurd and inhumane.
In 2003, the most recent year for which statistics are available, the National Center for health statistics reports that 146,000 procedures were performed to insert permanent feeding tubes into patients. According to the Brain Injury Association, there are between 35,000 and 40,000 people diagnosed with being in a persistent vegetative state.
Federal and state laws force hospitals to keep feeding people who have no hope of recovery and whose family members are ready to say good bye.
Please support a bill that will give families 100% control of their loved ones medical care.

Why is this important?
Every year thousands of people are on life support and have no hope of recovery. Support a bill that will allow people to die with dignity.
