To: President Donald Trump, The United States House of Representatives, and The United States Senate

Give the Capitol back to US.

We the citizens of, and visitors to, the Capitol Building of the United States ask the House, Senate and President to come together to pass and sign legislation to restore the historical public status of the Capitol as it was before 9/11. We believe with the proper screening (already in place), visitors can again be allowed to enjoy the building that most represents our Democratic government. It is sad to think most visitors, other than staff, will never see the majestic beauty and immense history of this phenomenal repository of all things CAPITOL.

Why is this important?

The Capitol used to be 'the people's building'. You could freely roam the center of America's government and revel in its beauty (with certain exceptions of course). No longer. Now you must go on a quick guided tour, in which you will see only 3 rooms, including the Rotunda; and still you go through 'airport quality' security. I fondly remember my hours spent in the building in the early 80s, being astonished at the decor, intricate murals, paintings, architecture, etc. Congress and the President should return the Capitol to its previous public status, after a thorough screening process.
