California has been a leader in providing equal access to renewable solar energy for all of our communities. Please support AB 217 to ensure that the benefits of solar continue to reach low-income families and communities that need the energy cost savings and jobs the most.
Why is this important?
Making housing affordable for California families isn’t just about lowering rent or mortgage payments. As a percentage of their income, low-income families spend four times as much on utilities as the average American family, and yet have the least access to technologies that can lower their bills and help keep them in their homes.
California has made tremendous progress in the last five years toward making clean, affordable solar power accessible to all who want it. Since 2009, California’s groundbreaking low-income solar programs have helped thousands of families reap the benefits of rooftop solar, while promoting energy efficiency and supporting clean energy job training.
But these programs are about to expire. If we don't act today, low-income families will be left behind. A bill to extend these important efforts is facing two critical votes in the senate in the next couple of weeks. Help ensure that all California families continue to have access to this money-saving, renewable energy source by asking your legislator to support the Equitable Access to Solar Energy bill (AB217).
