Initiate war-time-scale effort on environmental and economic decline.
Why is this important?
$1.2 trillion was wiped out from the global economy this year as a result of a warming planet, which is 1.6% of the world economy, according to the Dara Group's report, Climate Vulnerability Monitor. The study also estimates costs associated with warming to increase to 3.2% of the world economy by 2030, leaving world GDP nearly stagnant, and falling. It is way past due that the US Government wake up to the sobering fact that climate change mitigation and economic decline must be fought with trillions of dollars in large infrastructure projects to renew our energy, transportation, and communication grids, as well as reshape urban planning in order to create a more balanced relationship between humans, resources, and nature.
