These two electric companies, Dominion VA Power and Appalachian Power, are using their power and influence in the VA state legislature to keep VA in the dark ages regarding renewable energy, preventing hundreds of new jobs and the expansion of solar and other renewables at a time when our neighboring states MD and NC are soaring. According to one national renewable energy expert, VA has an F rating for solar friendly policies, and one large solar company Solar City will not do business in VA because of this, even while they are currently undergoing a massive expansion, hiring 1200 people.
