Gov. Bentley: "Allow Medicaid Expansion in Alabama"

Alabama currently has thousands of citizens who cannot pay for health insurance or medical care. Subsequently, the increase in health care problems, the lack of health care, and the increase in health care costs affects us all—in higher subsidized emergency care, lost productivity, and increased private insurance premiums.

The Affordable Care Act seeks to remedy this situation by allowing states to expand Medicaid coverage with federal dollars.

By accepting this opportunity, Alabama will be able to cover our lowest-income citizens with cost-efficient health insurance while creating new jobs and increasing state revenue. If federal dollars are rejected, our citizens will be without the care they need and the poor will suffer needlessly.

We believe Medicaid expansion is a win-win solution for all; it will benefit the state's financial situation and the families and children in need of health care!

Why is this important?

Accepting Federal money for Medicaid expansion in Alabama will benefit everyone. It will bring billions of dollars into our economy, create thousands of jobs, save money for employers, support our health institutions, and produce a net savings in the state's budget. More importantly, it will save lives.
Please vote to allow Medicaid expansion to move forward in the State of Alabama!
