At 340,136 words, the Alabama state constitution is 12 times longer than the average state constitution, 40 times longer than the U.S. Constitution, and is the longest still-operative constitution anywhere in the world. As you can see, we need a newer, simpler one
Why is this important?
I'm a citizen of the state of Alabama, and we have one of the most unwieldy and archaic constitutions of any state in the union. With over 800 amendments, a serious revamping is needed, with an emphasis on equality and human rights.
