Dear Governor Jerry Brown:
We call on you to stand with California workers and sign A.B. 2053 into law, to help stop workplace abuse in our state.
Abusive work environments are a growing epidemic-- 27 percent of Americans have suffered abuse at work and another 21 percent have witnessed it.
A.B. 2053 is a moderate, common-sense solution that would help reduce workplace abuse by requiring training of supervisors and managers. By passing this simple, cost-neutral bill, California can lead the nation and take a big step forward in creating healthy workplaces for all.
We respectfully urge you to sign AB 2053.
Why is this important?
For too long, the University of California has tolerated managers and supervisors who mistreat employees. Despite the Union’s ongoing efforts to eliminate workplace bullying of our members and win a fair and respectful workplace, the problem persists. Although there are many good managers in the system, too many of our members are abused in the workplace while the employer turns a blind eye to the problem.
