Arkansas Secretary of State Mark Martin recently sent out severely flawed lists of voters supposedly flagged as felons to Arkansas county clerks. As much as 90% of the names on these lists are wrong, containing voters who have had their rights restored already, and large numbers of voters who'd never had a felony conviction at all. RESET the voter rolls and send out a new, accurate list, instead of leaving this huge fix to the county clerks' offices.
Why is this important?
I have a relative who is an ex-felon living in a southern state. The reinstatement of voting rights for ex-felons, and preservation of voting rights for non-felons!, is a personal issue for me as well as something I think every citizen of the US should be concerned with. Wholesale rescinding of voters' rights, and the placing of obstacles in the way of justice, fly in the face of American values.
