Governor Bill Walker has the opportunity to expand Medicaid coverage for thousands of Alaskans, but the state legislature is standing in his way. While the governor has said that he wants to work with the legislators on this issue, some believe that the law actually allows him to move forward with expansion even without their support.
Why is this important?
With the legislative session drawing to a close soon, there isn't much time left for the governor to move forward the expansion plan with the legislature. If they fail to reach an agreement, thousands of Alaskans will suffer.
