In the face of dangers posed locally, nationally and globally by the mining, transportation and burning of fossil fuels, and by the generation of nuclear energy, we petition you to do everything in your power to encourage and expedite responsible and effective energy conservation and development of sustainable, renewable energy sources.
Why is this important?
As more Americans wake up to the dangers the mining, transportation and burning of fossil fuels pose to our environment and to our children, many feel helpless while others resist changes that would protect our air and water, and hopefully our climate.
Since the government and media barely mention climate change (even in the face of historically extreme weather) it's urgent for those who are awake to speak loud and clear: We need stronger legislation NOW to conserve energy, prevent waste and move swiftly towards safe, renewable alternatives.
